CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) — There are some serious complaints being aired by a handful of Miami women’s basketball players. For example, finding good poutine in South Florida isn’t easy. Ketchup-flavored potato chips aren’t in most stores. And the inability to start a day with coffee from Tim Hortons is a real problem. These are key issues when almost half of a team’s roster hails from Toronto. For these Hurricanes — Lemyah Hylton, Lashae Dwyer, Shayeann Day-Wilson and Latasha Lattimore — Thanksgiving is in October, the Raptors are the hometown NBA team and what Floridians call “freezing” is nothing more than a pleasant day outside to them.Dwyer, Day-Wilson and Lattimore all hail from Toronto; Hylton is from the suburb of Mississauga, about 15 miles (25 kilometers) west of Toronto. The Hurricanes have only 11 players on the roster this season — and having four from Toronto is basically a happy coincidence.“Honestly, I have no idea how this happened,” Hylton said. “And I think a lot of p...On Day 2 of multistate search for mass killing suspect, Maine residents shelter behind locked doors

LONDON — Scotland’s Humza Yousaf laughed off claims from X and Tesla tycoon Elon Musk on Friday that he is a “blatant racist.”Musk — celebrating one year of his controversial stewardship of the platform formerly known as Twitter — attacked the Scottish first minister and SNP leader in response to a video of a Yousaf speech from 2020.“What a blatant racist!” Musk posted on X, the social media platform he owns. He was replying to an account named “End Wokeness,” which had tweeted out a clip of the old Yousaf speech. In the speech — which Yousaf, then justice secretary, made in the aftermath of George Floyd’s murder — he said Scotland has “a problem of structural racism.” He said that in 99 percent of the meetings he attends, he is the only non-white person in the room.He then named several senior positions in the Scottish government and civil society, which he said were all filled by white people. (CNN) — Investigators searching for mass shooting suspect Robert Card have received more than 530 tips from the public, Maine Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck said Friday morning as he pledged to continue an around-the-clock manhunt for the Army Reserve member accused of killing 18 people.Investigators are expected to return to Card’s home on Friday, hours after law enforcement officers surrounded the home Thursday night and ordered any occupants to come out – though it’s not clear whether anyone was inside.Card, a longtime Army reservist and skilled marksman, should be considered armed and dangerous, authorities said. So for a second day, schools and businesses are shut down as hundreds of law enforcement officers swarm parts of southern Maine in pursuit of Card.Investigators have recovered a cell phone that belonged to Card, a law enforcement official said Friday. That adds to the challenges for investigators, who routinely track cell phones to find...Chinese fighter jet got within 10 feet of US bomber over South China Sea, US military says

New York (CNN) — Instant ramen Cup Noodles is giving its packaging its first major makeover in 50 years — but customers might not immediately notice it.Beginning in early 2024, the cups will be made from paper rather than styrofoam, also known as polystyrene, making the packaging more environmentally friendly. The change also means that for the first time ever, the ramen can now be made in the microwave, eliminating the need for boiling hot water. However, the ramen’s recognizable logo and packaging design aren’t changing. The new cups will be used for all the roughly dozen flavors.Nissin Foods USA said that the update is part of broader environmental changes the family-owned company is enacting, mirroring the changes other major food companies are making to become more sustainable. In addition to eliminating the plastic wrap on Cup Noodles, the new cups’ sleeves are made from 100% recycled paper also nixes the plastic wrap and the cups are made from 40% ...Latest news
