L.A. Zoo announces its spring events line-up

With warmer weather and longer days ahead, Angelenos can celebrate the new season with springtime events at the Los Angeles Zoo.The Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association announced Wednesday the return of popular springtime events, including a wine and dinner series and the zoo’s monthlong springtime celebration. The start dates for the various activities will vary.Springtime Events at the L.A. Zoo:Beginning April 1, the L.A. ANTIOCH — The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed a murder charge against a 37-year-old man who allegedly stabbed his pregnant wife and two kids, leading to the death of the woman’s unborn baby.The man, identified by authorities as Bartley Hall, was in Martinez county jail after his arrest last Saturday night in Cordelia, following a 30-mile pursuit into Solano County by law enforcement authorities.The victims, an 11-year-old girl, 14-year-old boy and 35-year-old woman, were taken to a hospital. Two of them were listed in critical condition and needed to be airlifted. HAYWARD, Calif. (KRON) -- A Home Depot employee at the Hayward location was arrested for stealing from the store, California Highway Patrol said on Thursday. CHP executed a search warrant at the suspect's home and found about 600 stolen items and nearly $90,000 of cash. The Home Depot contacted the CHP's Golden Gate Division's Organized Retail Crime Task Force on March 1 about the thefts committed by a store employee. The store suspected that the employee was stealing items while working after hours. Catalytic converter theft suspects arrested with help of American Canyon PD K9 The store lost a total of $300,000. HAYWARD, Calif. (KRON) -- A driver in the East Bay was arrested for having more than the legal amount of marijuana. After a traffic violation on I-880, authorities conducted a traffic stop that led to the seizure of the drugs, California Highway Patrol of Hayward announced Thursday in a Facebook post. A CHP officer saw a vehicle drive past the double white lines on the highway. A traffic stop was then initiated, which led to the discovery 26 pounds of marijuana. A 26-year-old unidentified driver was stopped, and the officer saw the dozens of bags filled with marijuana in the backseat, according to CHP. DENVER (KDVR) -- Following Wednesday's shooting, students made their way to the Capitol relaying their frustrations and safety concerns to lawmakers once again. East High students did the same thing following the death of their classmate Luis Garcia. Garcia was shot in the head outside the school on Feb. 13 and died three weeks later.
